Spring Break

NoWay, Tiffany Hynes, Nick Vitorino, & Jesse McGarry `11
This photo describes my entire spring break; we never left my car. All we did was drive around everyday. I always ended up in the backseat of my own car because everyone else drove it. This was the view I seen 24/7. My friends dont even have their permits! But they are really good at driving, so I trust them.

Portrait Diptych

Dont Hate, Tiffany Hynes, Dan Madrigal, & Kyle Hrustic '11
In this photo, I wanted to stick with playfulness.                          Cause: Dan messing with Kyle.
Effect: Kyle yelling at Dan.

This series was interesting to shoot since it was more
playful at the end. Its easy to understand.
Cause: Kyle thinks of apologizing while Dan cries.
Effect: Kyle apologizes & Dan hugs him.

Surrealism

Basement, Tiffany Hynes '11

This theme represents my fear of my basement and how it always feels as if someone is watching me. I really liked the way my photo came out. The smoke just adds to the spooky effect of the picture. I think many people can relate to this picture, also.

Surrealism: Digital vs. Traditional

Artist's Name: Ronen Goldman
About Artist: He is an Artist and Conceptual Photographer from the city of Tel Aviv, Israel. He specializes in creating "Photo-Dreams" -conceptually constructed photographs illustrating his various dream states.
Title of Artwork: Human Huggers
Date of Work: Not Specified
Description: Tree has arms and is hugging person. She looks happy. Other person is about to give hug to other tree.
Analysis: It has effects since the trees have arms. The colors also aren't too bright. It has a center of interest which is the girl in blue.
Interpretation: I think this photo means that everything has feelings. I think its trying to tell us that even the simplest things in life can bring joy to others.
Judgment: I think this photo is very successful. It's beautiful. I love the way the two people look so amazed and warm at the tree hugging experience. It seems as if it is normal to go around hugging trees.

Artist's Name: Tetsuya Ishida
About Artist: a Japanese painter who died May 23, 2005 after being hit by a train. (Possibly Suicide). Painted scenes of ordinary Japanese life, but with the protagonist (a self portrait) always trapped in a machine-like body, or treated as part of a production line.
Title of Artwork: No Name
Date of Work: Not Specified
Description: Guy has robotic arms. In grocery store. Checking out using arms. No expression.
Analysis: The use of color is very light. The detail is very good. The background colors are similar. His arms are symmetrical with two items on each of them.
Interpretation: I think this photo means that our world is depending too much on technology. That everything is now turning electronic.
Judgment: I think this photo is true in the fact that our world is so devoted to technology. I think the concept is brilliant.

Each artist has their own style of surrealism. I believe photography is better because it looks more real. But on the other hand, drawing/painting/etc. gives you more availability to be more unique and creative.

Surrealistic Theme

My theme is going to be about my fear of my basement. I always feel as if someone is watching me when i go down there. I'm going to take a picture of my basement in the section that scares me the most, the stairs. Then, I am going to take a picture of myself and add it into the picture. I will fade it so I appear as some sort of ghost figure. I might add a smoke effect to my picture, also. I think it is going to turn out really well.

Where I'd Rather Be...

On a cruise in the middle of the carribean :D This is a picture of the Royal Promenade on the ship Explorer of the Seas by Royal Caribbean. I've been on it 3 years in a row and I wouldnt want to be anywhere else but there. If I could, I'd live on that ship. It's like a second home. I can't wait to go on it again!

Artistic Inspirations

Zena Holloway

Louisa by Zena Holloway

I love her photos because they are all taken underwater. They look amazing! I've always loved underwater photography, and Zena Holloway takes it to an entire new level. She takes stunning pictures!

Salvador Dali

Geopoliticus by Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali's artwork is awesome! I love how random and abstract they are. Every artwork he does has a meaning to it. Some of his work really inspires me to paint/draw whatever comes to my mind.

Yanick Dery
By Yanik Dery

His photos are beautiful. He takes many different types such as people, fashion, beauty, advertising, art, & nude. I love his beauty work the most. They usually include makeup shots like the one shown. I've always wanted to take photos like this. i think it looks so pretty.

Chet Zar
Cancer face by Chet Zar

His paintings actually scare me a little but I love them. They are pretty freaky. He says they are usually just his doodles that he extended. They don't really have any meaning. I like the way he makes them look scary but nice at the same time.

Thomas Kinkade

Footprints in the Sand by Thomas Kinkade

Thomas Kinkade is one of my favorite artists. I have his paintings all over my house. He uses an oil canvas which makes his work so unique. His use of pastel colors is amazing. He is known for his cottage pictures. I love the way all his colors blend nicely together. His work will always impress me.
